Québec care options

No family doctor in Québec? Know your next care options.

MedVibe offers private virtual consultations with licensed Canadian clinicians for eligible, non-urgent concerns. It does not replace ongoing family medicine or Québec's public health services.

Choose the right door

Where to seek care when you do not have a family doctor.

The right option depends on urgency, the type of concern, public-service eligibility, and whether a virtual assessment is appropriate.

Info-Santé 811 — option 1

For non-urgent health advice, a nurse can assess your situation by phone and guide you to an appropriate resource. This Québec service is free and available 24 hours a day.

Primary Care Access Point — 811, option 3

Québec's GAP helps people without a family doctor or primary-care nurse practitioner reach a resource suited to their need. Access and timing depend on the public system's criteria and availability.

MedVibe private virtual care

For eligible non-urgent concerns, you can submit a private request for review by a licensed Canadian clinician. Virtual care has limits and some situations need in-person assessment or testing.

Emergency care — 911 or an emergency department

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for a medical emergency. Do not wait for a virtual-care reply when symptoms may be urgent or life-threatening.

How private virtual care works

A focused request, reviewed by a real clinician.

MedVibe handles a specific care request; it does not enrol you in comprehensive, longitudinal family medicine.

  1. 1

    Describe the concern

Choose a service and submit the information needed for a safe initial review.

  2. 2

    A licensed clinician reviews it

The clinician determines whether virtual care is suitable and may ask for more information or recommend in-person care.

  3. 3

    Receive clear next steps

When clinically appropriate, your care plan or document is delivered securely. Otherwise, you are directed to a more suitable care setting.

Common questions

Care without a family doctor in Québec

Can MedVibe become my family doctor?

No. MedVibe provides focused private virtual care for eligible concerns. It is not a replacement for a family doctor, primary-care nurse practitioner, emergency department, or comprehensive ongoing care.

Can a nurse practitioner diagnose and prescribe in Québec?

Québec specialized nurse practitioners can perform activities within their regulated class, including diagnosing illnesses and prescribing certain tests, medications, and treatments. The clinician's scope, your location, and your clinical needs determine what can be provided in a MedVibe consultation.

Should I use 811, the GAP, or MedVibe?

Use Info-Santé 811 for non-urgent telephone guidance and the GAP pathway for public-system access when you do not have a family doctor. MedVibe is a separate private option for eligible virtual concerns. For an emergency, call 911 or go to an emergency department.
